Marcel Duchamp, Door: 11 rue Larrey, 1927
The door is operated between two adjacent rooms. When it is open in one direction it is closed in another. The is intended to create a condition by which the room is never fully independent from the adjoining spaces. The door creates ambiguous relationships between the seen and unseen spaces of the apartment.
The apartment revolves around this one hinge; does architecture need to move to create spaces that change?
